No LED, halogen, incandescent or commercial-use lights accepted.
Please bring your fluorescent lights and tubes to the store and we will recycle them rather than see them in the landfills.
Safe Handling: Handle fluorescent lights carefully. Do not break or puncture. Wrap lights in paper or place them in original packaging if possible before returning them. For information on safe handling and clean up, visit Health Canada's website at www.hc.sc.gc.ca or call BC's Recycling Hotline at 1-800-667-4321
If you have a CFL that is broken please see the website above for safe handling. Also, we have Fluorescent Lamp Spill Kits in store so please drop by the store and we will give you one if you happen to break a CFL.
**New Partial Ban on Incandescent Bulbs in BC**
Passed in 2009 by the B.C. government, the outlines a schedule to phase out energy inefficient lighting sources. Under the new , retailers are prohibited from carrying 75 and 100-watt incandescent bulbs as of January 1st, 2011. These lights will only be available until retailers’ current stocks run out. Other incandescent bulbs are not affected by the standard and will still be available in stores.
This standard will require consumers to buy more energy efficient light bulbs such as compact fluorescent lights (CFLs). As a result, the number of CFLs sold in the province is expected to increase. The LightRecycle program offers free and convenient collection points for consumers to return these CFLs, as well as fluorescent tubes, after they are burnt out.
